Why KVM Matters for Docker
Docker relies on kernel features — namespaces, cgroups and overlay filesystems — that container-based VPS platforms often restrict. A KVM VPS has its own kernel, so every Docker feature works without workarounds.
How Much RAM Do I Need for Docker?
2 GB is enough for a few small containers. Choose 4 GB or more for databases, several apps or build jobs.
Can I Run Kubernetes on a VPS?
Yes. Lightweight distributions such as k3s or MicroK8s run well on a single VPS with 4 GB RAM or more, and you can join several VPS into a cluster.
Does Docker Bypass My Firewall?
Published container ports are added directly to iptables, so UFW rules don’t apply to them. Bind private services to 127.0.0.1 or don’t publish their ports.
Which Operating System Is Best for Docker?
Ubuntu and Debian are the most common Docker hosts and are fully supported by Docker’s official packages.
